Whirinaki is Upper Hutt’s creative hub, buzzing all year round with events, workshops, artist talks, community activities and education classes.

Upstairs in the theatre the spotlight is on live theatre, comedy, film, dance and music. Ranging from circus acts to classical music, multicultural concerts to ballet showcases and international film.

Classical Expressions is a signature programme featuring top Chamber music performances throughout the year, there is also a free once-a-month lunch time concert by students from the NZ School of Music and on the first Sunday of the month ‘Sunday Strum’ welcomes ukulele players to a free ‘strum along’ in the foyer.

Located inside Whirinaki Whare Taonga you’ll find Dough Bakery.

Freshly baked bread, delicious coffee and cabinet treats, Dough is filled with scrumptious goods for all to enjoy. With a total of five sites across the whole Wellington Region, we are lucky to have three based here in Upper Hutt. Grab a coffee and watch the hard labour of bread making at Dough HQ, visit the Doughnut Wagon for some extra treats, or linger in the café at Dough Bakery and enjoy the atmosphere.
