Ancient rain forest, camping, swimming, hiking and rivendell …welcome to the award-winning Kaitoke Regional Park!
There is no better spot to enjoy the outdoors than Kaitoke - one of Wellington’s most visited parks.
For over 20 years, Lord of The Rings fans have been flocking to Kaitoke to immerse themselves in Rivendell - the home of the elves. A replica Elven archway still stands among the bush, making for the perfect photo opportunity.
Kaitoke has been a family-favourite camping spot for generations, with lovely facilities including toilets, power outlets and electric bbq's. You can have a truly kiwi summer experience with a campfire along the riverbed.
Swing Bridge Track
Stretch the legs and loop around Kaitoke’s Swing Bridge Track.
This leisurely 45 minute walk starts by crossing the exhilarating, newly built swing bridge. The bridge is suspended high above Pākuratahi River and is wide enough for wheel-chair and pram access.
The track then weaves through mature rimu and rātā trees towards the river gorge (and it is… gorgeous)
